Michael Joseph Patrick Murray

Michael was born the fifth of seven children on Sept. 9, 1971, in Port Murray, N.J., then moved to Pennsylvania when he was seven. He lived in the Florida Keys in his early 20s, moved to Colorado and finally to Fairbanks Ala., as an award-winning chef.

Michael met Kimberly Herrman in Fairbanks and married her on June 4, 2005. He earned his degree at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2009.

Michael's charismatic zest for life drew people to him. He poured humor and laughter into our souls and I know of no one who didn't love to be around him. Certainly all were reluctant to leave his company. His quick-witted humor and captivating stories filled our lives with the ability to laugh at ourselves and not take life so seriously.

Michael constantly surprised his wife as he revealed one amazing skill after another. He was a brilliant artist, an inventive chef, could do acrobatics on stilts, refinish furniture and a plethora of other things. He was full of surprises and life with him was a sweet adventure.

Michael was a protective, loving husband, father, brother, friend and co-worker. He will be missed like the sun has left the sky; when the storm of our tears have been spent, the sun shall return by the warmth of the memories he has left behind.

Michael is survived by his wife, Kimberly; his children, Isaac, Madelyn and Joshua; parents, Joseph and Ellen; and siblings, Alexis, Elizabeth, Sean, Christian, Joshua and Therese.

A memorial will be held for Michael by his family in Pennsylvania to be announced as preparations are completed. Please email pictures, stories or video of Michael to us at MichaelJMurray9971@yahoo.com . We want to use these for the memorial. Thank you.
