Miss Gastonia has strong showing in Miss NC pageant (photos)
RALEIGH — Miss Gastonia Maddisson Sheppard finished near the top of the Miss North Carolina pageant, coming in as the second runner-up.
Sheppard, 19, won the preliminary talent award during last week’s competition, which propelled her into the pageant finals. She receives $4,250 in scholarship money, which she will use at UNC Chapel Hill where she is majoring in chemistry.
“It is an honor to be Miss Gastonia and being called out as the second runner-up is more than I expected. I am so excited. This has been an incredible experience,” said Sheppard just moments after Miss Durham Hailey Best was chosen Miss North Carolina from a group of 33 contestants. Sheppard concludes her year when she crowns the next Miss Gastonia on Aug. 7.
Also at the pageant, Miss Gaston County’s Outstanding Teen Kaitryana Leinbach was the second runner-up in the teen pageant finals. Leinbach, 13, also won the preliminary talent and physical fitness awards and received savings bonds totaling $2,250.
Miss Gaston County Brianna Eason and Miss Mount Holly Shane McCaleb were not among the Miss N.C. finalists, but McCaleb received a non-finalist talent award. The other local representatives were Miss Gastonia’s Outstanding Teen Lauren Farris and Miss Mount Holly’s Outstanding Teen Kaitlyn Pacitto.

Lauren Holly Biography And Pictures
Her father Grant Holly was a screenwriter and professor of Literature at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and her mother Michael Ann was an art historian and Star Director OF Research and Academic Program at The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute and also a former professor at Hobart and William Smith College.
Lauren was raised in Geneva, New York and graduated from Geneva High School in 1981, and was a cheerleader there. She had done undergraduate degree in English at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Lauren acting started at age of 20 from Hill Street Blues Series. She was casted in the iconic ABC television soap Opera All My Children and there her career begins and appeared in many films like: Seven Minutes In Heaven, Sabrina, Dumb and Dumber, Band of the Hand, Vig, Turbulence, No Looking Back, Money Kings, Any Given Sunday, Beautiful Girls, The Least Among You, Fatwa, Final Strom, Chasing 3000 and many other.
Lauren television plays are: Love Lives On, All my Children, The Antagonists, King of Texas, Santa. Jr, Chicago Hope, Flash point, Covert Affairs and other.
Lauren also appeared in a music video Dixie Chick’s “Goodbye Earl” in 2000. She married thrice first in 1991 with Danny Quinn, Jim Carrey in 1996 and present husband was Francis Greco in 2001.
