Twee jaar geleden kwam Sucker Punch, de geestelijke vader van de Sly Cooper franchise, zeer onverwachts met een nieuw IP op de proppen. Als een blikseminslag werd Cole McGrath gedropt in de openworld game InFamous en bezorgde hij ons enkele uren speelplezier. Dat de game-industrie te kampen heeft met sequelitis bewijst de herfst line-up nog maar eens, want met games als Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3 en Battlefield 3 vliegen de drietjes naarstig rond. Niet getreurd, InFamous 2 levert op alle gebieden kwaliteit. Het spel begint onmiddellijk waar deeltje een eindigde. Zij die InFamous niet gespeeld hebben konden dankzij Sony's 'Welcome back'-programma de game gratis downloaden om zo alsnog volledig mee te zijn met het verhaal. Niet dat je veel mist. Na een korte samenvatting en een klein vijftal minuten in New Empire rondgelopen te hebben, verhuis je samen met Zeke en Kuo naar een volledig nieuwe setting die veel gelijkenissen toont met New Orleans, namelijk New Marais. Het vluchten was nodig aangezien 'The Beast' alles verwoest wat zijn pad doorkruist en jij als elektrische geleider nog niet over voldoende krachten beschikt. New Marais is je nieuwe thuishaven en je speelterrein bij het zoeken naar nieuwe krachten en de bron van al het kwaad, de Ray Sphere. Qua structuur is er niet veel veranderd in InFamous 2. Zo zul je hier ook missies voorgeschoteld krijgen waar je vijandelijke bendes moet tegenhouden, bepaalde personen kan volgen en enkele objectieven moet uitvoeren om de progressie van het verhaal in gang te houden. Daarnaast zijn er tal van zijmissies die je Blast Shards opleveren of je Karma-niveau bepalen. Beslis je om mensen te genezen, bommen te ontmantelen en overvallen te bestrijden dan word je beloond met positief Karma. Beslis je echter om straatmuzikanten hardnekkig aan te pakken, Blast shards te stelen van onschuldige mensen en met veel toeters en bellen het landschap explosief te veranderen, dan krijg je een impuls aan slecht Karma. Naast de vele extra power bezit Cole ook over enkele andere nieuwe truukjes. Zo kan je naast het gliden over elektriciteitsdraden en tramlijnen voortaan ook verticaal de lucht in geschoten worden en zal je door middel van een upgrade ook een "Spider Man"-look-a-like move bezitten die je toelaat van het ene gebouw naar het andere te slingeren. De grootste verbetering vind je waarschijnlijk terug bij de mêleegevechten.
