Wildfire prevention team arrives at Coronado forest

A National Wildland Fire Prevention Team has arrived at the Coronado National Forest to enhance current wildfire prevention work. The team will work with forest employees to strengthen public awareness of current wildfire dangers, defensible space around structures, address current restrictions and closures coupled with individual wildfire preparedness throughout the five ranger districts of the Forest.

Punky McClellan, Prevention Team Leader said, “Folks don’t have to be reminded that this fire season has been devastating here in Arizona. 

Our work is to bring about a stronger understanding and receptiveness to the many wildfire preventative measures. 

To the best of our ability, we will bring to the forefront messages and products that will strengthen the public awareness of wildfire prevention.”  

National Wildland Fire Prevention Teams have been utilized for over 15 years. This year, teams have been assigned to New Mexico and Texas. 

The primary work conducted by a team is to coordinate with the host agencies and build or reinforce stronger community awareness as it relates to wildland fire prevention and all the implications associated with wildfire dangers. 

The team will work closely with forest employees and partnering agencies to enhance relationships with communities and community organizations and leadership, media outlets and local emergency services operators.

Most of the fire area showed little or no fire activity. Infrared detection still shows a few isolated hot spots in Carr Canyon and south in Oversight Canyon within the fire perimeter.  Crews will continue to work on these hotspots with helicopter support.  

Crews continued to mop-up and patrol along Forest road 61.  Military crews also continue to construct and improve lines, as well as clearing brush along the Garden Canyon road and elsewhere throughout the fort.

 Initial attack crews continue to be on alert to respond to any new fire starts that may occur in the area.

New property construction depends on excavation and brush clearing to be performed before any kind of construction can be done. Depending on the size of the project it can sometimes get very expensive. A excavating property is able to move land to the engineers specifications in order to build new construction. Most companies can take care of anything from moving land to cutting down trees. It is an important job because it has to be done before any construction can take place.

The larger companies can clear a massive amount of land. They are able to clear out enough space to build highways or neighborhoods. Not only do they need to clear land but they are usually pressed for time. They perform the first task in the construction process and if they are late they could through of the whole project schedule.

Many companies can also deal with private accounts as well. They can usually aide the owner of a house with landscaping or prepare the land for additions or concrete. A lot of them actually do a lot of landscaping as well as remove debris. They have to work in conjunction with concrete companies to make sure everything is done to their specifications.

There are also homeowners who perform these tasks on their own. They may do their own brush and plant removal. They can also move their own dirt in many cases. Most of these homeowners rely on a curbside pickup or a centralized drop sight for getting rid of their brush. When it comes to having dirt or concrete removed it can sometimes become more challenging. They may have to hire a company to come out and remove that debris for them.

Sometimes the excavator is confused with the demolition er. The excavator’s job usually is not to demolish old buildings although some excavation companies do offer both services. An excavators primary purpose is to prep the land for new construction. They do not only prep for structures they can also prep land for new roads as well.

In some case the government has tree and plants removed to keep it from killing other things. Sometimes plant life can also become infected and it needs to be removed in order to keep it from killing off other plant life. It is also necessary to sometimes remove brush or trees to protect the native trees and plants from being over taken.

There are different companies available for different size jobs. A large company will be called if there are many acres or miles of land to be cleared. A small homeowner might hire a company that can not only clear the land but also carry pout any project that they are working on at the time. By going with one company to perform many aspects of the construction process the homeowner can often times save a lot of money.
