Gamers can win free prizes for one of the big games of 2011. For the next eight weeks, fans of the Gears of War franchise can take part in GameStop’s “Go Commando” Gears of War 3 sweepstakes. To help launch Epic Games third Gears game, GameStop is giving away more than 3,600 commando-worthy prizes now through October 3 in this sweepstakes created exclusively for GameStop pre-order customers.
Entering the “Go Commando” sweepstakes is simple. Fans can pre-order the game at any local GameStop or online at www.gamestop.com and use their receipt information or online order information to enter. The code can be entered once a day on the “Go Commando” website, www.gamestop.com/gearsofwar3 , for a chance to win.
In addition to the grand prize, a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer, participants can also win instant prizes and 41 daily grand prizes, such as: Xbox LIVE memberships, an ATV, MSI WindPads, flatscreen TVs, and autographed Gears of War 3 concept art.
The grand prize drawing for a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer will occur on Oct. 3. The entry pool resets every 24 hours, so fans can enter once a day during the sweepstakes period. There is a limit of one prize per person, family or household per day. In addition, Gears of War fans looking to take the game of chance to the next level can spin the COG where there are loads instant prizes to be had.

Free rock climbing for kids, free games and activities and free chances to win great prizes including five skybox seat tickets to the Cubs vs Pittsburg Pirates September 3 game are some of the highlights of this year’s SportsFest 2011, a sports and fitness showcase sponsored by the Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce! The event will be held on Sunday, August 21 from 12 noon until 4 p.m. in the Feinberg Court Business District near Wool Street Grill & Sports Bar.
The event, which last year attracted over 1,500 attendees, is a family friendly outing for local residents and a great way to end the summer. A vendor raffle conducted by the Chamber will offer a grand prize of four skybox seat tickets to the Cubs vs Pirates September 3 Game, sponsored by Sage Products, Inc. An obstacle course challenge for kids sponsored by New Balance Athletic Shoes Crystal Lake will award a grand prize of a new bike from Walmart. The event will also feature outdoor entertainment and food, and demonstrations all day, from poms and cheerleading, to jazzercise and karate.
