St. Albans Vandals Damage Frontier Cable
ST. ALBANS -- About 400 customers were without Frontier Communications service Friday afternoon when vandals cut the cable in a possible theft attempt, according to information from Frontier.The damaged cable is in a remote location, and Frontier officials said they hope to have phone and Internet service restored Saturday evening.
The cable damage affected customers in the following areas: Pennsylvania Avenue, Lower Falls, Monterey Drive, Parkview, Lakeview, Sun Valley Drive, Shadyside Road, Riverside Drive, Aliff Lane, Riverlake Estates and Playland.
“Cable thieves and vandals are a serious threat to public safety, and we are working with law enforcement to identify those responsible for these crimes,” Dennis Bloss, area general manager for Frontier, said in a news release. “Disrupting telephone service, which prevents our customers from contacting emergency agencies, is a very serious offense.
“We are pleased with the recent successes we have seen in the investigation of these crimes and the prosecution of those responsible.”
Anyone with information about cable theft and vandalism can report it anonymously to the Frontier security hotline at 1-800-590-6605.
