Humane Society has cat weekend
Weekend PlannerThis weekend the Freeborn County Humane Society will have a special cat adoption event for Independence Day. For all cats one year or older the adoption fee will be reduced to $17.76 on Friday and Saturday only.
Fourth of July celebrations will abound this weekend in the Albert Lea area. Look to the Tribune on Friday for a full listing of events.
Starting Friday and ending Monday is Merriam’s Carnival on Broadway Avenue in Albert Lea. The carnival is open from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 10 p.m. Sunday and 1 to 8 p.m. Monday. Unlimited ride wrist bands cost $14. Food vendors and much more will be featured at the carnival.
Friday
• The Freeborn County Humane Society will feature a cat adoption event with a decreased adoption fee for cats 1 year and older from noon to 5 p.m.
• Downtown businesses will feature Crazy Days, with stores open for extra hours.
• A comedy show will feature Jeff Polis as a fundraiser for the Relay for Life. The show starts at 7 p.m. at the American Legion in Albert Lea.
Saturday
• The Albert Lea Farmers Market starts at 9 a.m. and goes until noon in the East Clinic parking lot.
• The Freeborn County Humane Society will feature a cat adoption event with a decreased adoption fee for cats 1 year and older from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Downtown businesses will feature Crazy Days, with stores open for extra hours.
• From 4 to 8 p.m. the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau and American Legion will hold a car show. This is the second annual car show, and the public will vote on favorites.
• The Pelican Breeze II will depart from the dock at 4 p.m. The cruise is $10 and no reservations are required. If the cruise is canceled there will be a sign with that notification.
Sunday

• The Third of July parade starts at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. and is expected to last about two hours.
